... and a Wizard too!
The William H. Hannon Library features 33 spacious, comfortable group study rooms designated exclusively for LMU students, faculty, and staff:
3 Deluxe Presentation Rooms 4 Media Viewing Rooms 2 Media Listening Rooms 6 6-person Group Study Rooms 18 4-person Group Study Rooms
All group study rooms are accessible only by LMU OneCard, have a large flat screen television for laptop hookup, plenty of outlets, seating for four or six, and whiteboards on the walls for group collaboration. That is, if you can get any work done because of the distracting views!
The presentation rooms, located in the Information Commons on level 1, will be equipped with video recording equipment so that students or faculty may record practice presentations and take away a DVD to review.
The viewing and listening rooms, on level 2, are outfitted with comfortable chairs and a variety of equipment for viewing or listening to DVDs or music borrowed from our Media & Reserves Department.
But perhaps the biggest change of all is that each study room must be reserved for use! LMU students, faculty, and staff can reserve a study room either in advance online (coming soon), or, for unoccupied rooms without existing reservations, on a nifty little device at the door.
Meet the RoomWizard.
The RoomWizard screen will tell you when a room is either reserved or available. If you made a reservation online, you check in here at your designated time. If you don't have a reservation but the room is unoccupied, you press "use room now", set how long you'd like to use it, and the room is all yours!
Although we open on Monday the 27th, LMU librarians and library staff will be working out the kinks on a number of issues, including the RoomWizards, between the "soft opening" and when Fall Semester starts on August 31. Between now and then, keep checking back for more detailed information about online group study room reservations and policies. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please visit the Information Desk on the first floor!

The Rose Hills Foundation Reading Room
In the Von der Ahe Library (VdA):
All library services will cease on the July 25-26 weekend before opening the William H. Hannon Library to the public on Monday, July 27. Although we are working hard to get everything ready for opening day, we will still be working on things, organizing, and getting familiar with our surroundings. Also, Jazzman's Café is scheduled to open for business August 3. See you soon in the new library!
