Did you know that the William H. Hannon Library is being built to meet LEED certification standards?
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a national rating system created by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality. Here are some environmental and financial benefits to meeting LEED certification standards:
- Lower operating costs and increased asset value.
- Reduce waste sent to landfills.
- Conserve energy and water.
- Reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
A green library will be a healthier and safer place for all our users!
